OtterBox Reflex Series iPad 2 Case – Review

You just bought a cool new ipad 2 and are geared up to enjoy the features it offers.  But what is the first thing you’d do before that? No guessing here.  You’d definitely look for a case that protects the wonder gadget.  And with the markets offering bulky cases with high price tags and minimum safety, you get over-protective and eventually land up giving a scratch to your new device.

For every question there is an answer and OtterBox has a fitting answer for the ipad 2 protection.  They already had their Defender series of cases for iPad which enjoyed huge popularity.  One of the leading manufacturers of protective cases, the Colorado based company has come up with its new Reflex Series protective cases for ipad 2 – that is supposedly better than the defender series.

The Reflex Series comes with an ultra slim design and does not make your Ipad 2 lose its light-weight.  The case comprises two pieces made up of hard polycarbonate and TPE rubber which are easy to install as well.  All you have to is slide your ipad 2 into it.  The pockets of air in each of the corners protect the ipad from high impact collisions.  The two cases once fixed with the ipad do not come out easily.  This assures complete protection to your device.  The only drawback here is that its not splash resistant.

The Reflex Series also consists of a removable shield which protects the ipad’s screen.  The shield has multi-functionality. It also acts as a stand to give two fixed angles for your viewing experience and ease your  typing as well.  Both the angles support portrait and landscape orientations.  So you can easily choose the angle according to your needs. The shallow angle can be used for typing as it aids it.  The other angle can be used when you’re hands off like watching a movie, or viewing slides.  The only drawback about the shield is that it can be really troublesome to attach and remove it time and again. And it is very much likely that you can easily keep it somewhere and lose it.

Surely the ipad gets the safety required after wearing the protective case but at the same time if the safety costs you the access to the key areas of the ipad?  Like the openings for the Dock connector, the microphone, the camera, the speakers, the mute/orientation lock switch and the headphone jacks.  You can easily get irritated even if one of these areas seems difficult to access. But if you are using the reflex series you need not worry about any of these short-comings. Be rest assured as OtterBox has managed to keep your comfort level undisturbed. The other two buttons, which are the on/off/sleep/wake button and the volume toggle button, are covered with a flexible material. So using them wouldn’t be a problem at all.

The cover might really not look that attractive but our primary concern of safety is taken care of. Do you need anything more than that?

The bottom line is that the overall Reflex series package provides the necessary protection and also gives additional features as well which makes it a great buy. Otterbox surely has given ipad 2 the protection it requires. Priced at $69.95 the Otter Box Reflex Series is a value for money buy. Go for it.
