iPad 2 Cases – What you should look for?

With the launch of iPad 2, there are lots of news articles related to iPad 2 cases, covers, and other iPad 2 accessories.  Those of you who have already purchased iPad 2 or still contemplating the purchase are likely wondering if your stash of existing accessories for iPad will work with the new iPad 2.  After all, when you’re spending $600 or more on a new iPad, who wants to hand over even more for new add-ons? We’ve done a survey of iPad 2 accessories to see what works and what doesn’t work for iPad 2.  Here’s what we’ve found so far.

Many iPad case vendors are currently touting cases which according to them for the iPad’s next generation.  It appears that many iPad case manufacturers had dimensions of iPad 2 in depth prior to its release.  Many iPad covers are advertised as iPad 2 models, but few are a good fit for the iPad 2.  With iPad’s thinner feature, you are going to get a lots of new announcements since most of the original covers and cases won’t work with the new model.

iPad 2 comes with a flat back with more-pointed edges.  This new shape of iPad 2′s with thinner profile may cause problem for your old covers.  This difficulty you may find with cases like silicone skins, rigid shells and other folio-style cases specially made for the original iPad .Where as iPad sleeves are perfect for iPad 2, as they already tend to fit loosely.  And even packs and bags of original iPad can accommodate the iPad 2 very nicely.

The other iPad protection option is a protective film, whether it is for its entire body or just the iPad’s screen.  It was found by PCWorld colleagues last year that the iPad screens were scratch-proof.  iPad 2 will have the same glass, so you need not have to go for the protective films for iPad2 .

iPad 2  will be available for use on the AT&T and Verizon Wireless networks.  The original iPad cases have related characteristics like a place for a single dock connector, a place for a headphone jack, and a hole for the rear-facing camera near one of the corners.  As covers for older version of iPad have the provision for all these things and they will fit perfectly for iPad 2.

Actually smart Cover of iPad 2 doesn’t protect the back of it.  It depends on you whether you really need a case to protect your iPad’s backside and how much you care about the aluminum getting scratched, as the same problem you might have faced with the older iPad version.

So, finally we can say that – it is better to check the ipad cover specifications when you shop it online.  Check iPad case and cover specs with iPad specifications.  Get more and more information from your vendor whether the case you have selected fits the iPad 2 or not before shipping the product.  We will review some of the top iPad 2 cases and accessories in detail in our next post.
